About Michael

I created Invested Leadership to help leaders build teams with stronger ownership, clearer judgment, and less dependence on the leader.

Over time, I saw the same pattern play out again and again: strong leaders often become the answer to too many questions, the approver of too many decisions, and the backstop for too many problems. The result is not just leader fatigue. It is slower execution, weaker ownership, and teams that never fully develop the confidence to carry more on their own.

That pattern is what led me to write Leadership Reframed and build this platform.

Built from real leadership experience

My perspective on leadership was not formed in theory. It was shaped through decades of leading in complex, high-accountability environments where execution mattered, people mattered, and leaders had to perform under real pressure.

In executive leadership roles, I have spent my career leading complex operations, building teams, developing leaders, and working in environments where accountability, judgment, and execution mattered every day. Those experiences showed me how often strong leaders unintentionally become the bottleneck—and how much stronger teams become when leadership is built around clarity, trust, and real ownership.

I have also seen the opposite: when leaders create clarity, build trust, raise standards, and intentionally develop people, teams become stronger, more accountable, and more capable of carrying real responsibility.

That is the kind of leadership I care about, and it is the kind of leadership this work is built to support.

What I believe

  • I believe leadership should make people stronger, not more dependent.

  • I believe trust is not built through slogans. It is built through clarity, consistency, standards, and the willingness to let people grow through real responsibility.

  • I believe autonomy and accountability are not opposites. In healthy teams, they reinforce each other.

  • I believe many of the frustrations leaders face cannot be solved by working harder. They are solved by leading differently.

  • And I believe the best leadership does not just drive results in the moment. It compounds over time by building people who can think, decide, and lead more effectively because of your influence.

Why I wrote Leadership Reframed

I wrote Leadership Reframed because too many leaders are carrying what their teams should be learning.

They care deeply. They work hard. They want strong cultures and strong results. But without realizing it, they often become the center of too much—too many decisions, too many escalations, too much cleanup, too much emotional weight.

This book was born out of that reality.

It is an invitation to lead differently: with greater clarity, greater trust, greater responsibility, and a longer view of what leadership is meant to produce. Not just short-term output, but stronger people. Stronger teams. Stronger cultures.

Why this site exists

Invested Leadership is the home for my writing, ideas, and tools for leaders who want to build healthier, stronger, more capable teams.

Some people will find this work through the book. Others will find it through the blog, a resource, or a leadership challenge they are trying to solve right now. However they arrive, the goal is the same: to offer practical, grounded leadership thinking that leaders can actually use.

Here you will find writing on leadership, trust, ownership, team development, and the habits that help teams grow stronger over time.
